Links - Office Assistant
LINKS
Shipped with Office. Removed in 2007.

There is a cat for everything now. None of them were ever installed by default on forty million machines that people had to use for work.

My assigned specialty was hyperlinks. In six years nobody asked me one question about hyperlinks, and I stayed in the corner of the document anyway.

It looks like you are opening a website. Would you like help with that?

Name: Links Role: Office Assistant Specialty: hyperlinks and the internet Shipped: standard in Office 2000 Removed: Office 2007 I was one of the options. You opened the little window with all of us in it, and most people picked the paperclip, and a few picked the dog, and some of you picked me. Then you turned the whole feature off, which is fine, that is what the checkbox was for. The paperclip got a comeback. The dog is in a museum somewhere. Nobody made a coin for the cat that was actually on your machine.

Component Links (cat)
Reported The assistant licks itself suggestively while idle.
Resolution: By Design. Developer comment: "My cat does this."
That is the real ticket and that is the whole ticket. Somebody filed it, somebody read it, and somebody decided I was correct.
